V

Just a comment I'm REALLY loving this show!

ftw!

So, I was on my last break and had gone to the restroom, as I returned to my cubicle, a fellow employee told me they were evacuating the building. My manager, who's cubicle is behind mine, told us there was an electrical fire in the basement, to get our stuff, and go home.

My reaction, "See you tomorrow!" :P

I am now in home in time to watch the 2nd ep of V. \O/!!!

HP Gen Fic red

Has anyone read "A Year Like None Other" by Aspeninthesunlight, yet?

OMG! First, this is a genfic, not a slash, at all, but OMG! SO SO SO good!

It takes off from the end of Order of the Phoenix (I believe) and is about a letter from home that changes not only Harry's life, but everyone else's as well. And, I cannot say this ENOUGH it is FABULOUS! Great characterization, the plot is unbelieveable, and it swept me up and kept me reading it for days and days! It's very long, btw, like over 700,000 words, I believe. But don't let that throw you off at all!

If you're looking for a great story to read (really great!) then I highly recommend this fic to read.

Weekly PSA

This week's issue of The Skinny Newletter (latest news for original slash/femmeslash fiction) is now up!

joy

Lucius Malfoy, his friend and king of the were-leopard pride would be shattered if Potter was taken away. Snape was beginning to suspect there was more to the relationship he shared with the Chosen, (it was strange thinking of the raven haired, emerald eyed, troublesome young man as that), than was initially obvious.

HP badfic (of the good kind) can be found here.

inquiying minds

Happy birthday [info]tafadhali! Hope it's a great day!

Also, I never read enough of the series to find out, but does anyone know if JKR ever explained why Sirius Black wasn't given Veritaserum after the death of James & Lilly?

Crazy Love, writing, and walking

So, I downloaded Michael Buble's Crazy Love and OMG! SO SO SO SO GOOD!!! Did I mention I have a thing for swing/big band? Well, I do and this album so fills my need for swing/band! Also, I have to say, I heard Michael Buble on Tavis Smiley's radio show last night and he sounds like the most adorable man! Just sweet and humble and I think he has a new fan. :D

Btw, he's singing Georgia on My Mind right now, and did you know one of the co-writers of this song, Hoagy Carmichael, was born in the same city as I? Hoosiers for the win! \O/

I was listening to the Diane Rehm show yesterday and she had this guy named John Freeman on and he's written a book wanting people to not e-mail so much and to write more letters. I agree with some of what he said, but not all of it. One thing he said, that I didn't agree with, was that, in essance, writing a letter is more meaningful then writing an e-mail. I use to write letters, and it was never, ever the medium of communication that provided the meaning; it was the person writing the letter, and the person responding to it that gave the letters meaning. The same with e-mail. I'm a crap letter writer. I'm not a very good communicator with e-mail either. And that's all on me. My command of the language, what I'm trying to convey, and all the other stuff that goes in to any form of writing, all is on me, not the fact I use a pen and paper or a form of electronic communication. So it just bites my butt when I hear people say it's the technology.

On a separate note, I did agree with him when he said we get a lot of junk e-mails and sometimes we respond with e-mails when we don't need to. I also agreed with him that getting something in the mail is thrilling. However, I don't agree that you can't communicate meaningfully with another person only by pen and paper.

Now that I've had my morning omellette, think I'll go get ready to take my walk. I've been bad at documenting my steps lately but I have been walking. Hoo! OH OH OH! Btw, I weighed myself the other day and since last year, when I started my walking program, I've lost about 20 lbs! \O/
